*Soy CandlesTzu Jan Candles are all hand poured, 100% soy wax candles. They are not only hand poured but hand finished. I take pride in each candle that I make and consider it to be a piece of art. I use soy wax exclusively. Of course, if you opt for color or scent in your candle there will be additives, but you can be assured that these will be the only thing in your candle aside from clean burning, non-toxic soy wax. The Yang White Candles have no color or whitener added. This is the natural color of the soy wax.
So why choose Soy? Soy wax is a renewable sustainable resource. Paraffin candles are made from petroleum bi-products. Paraffin candles, as I am sure you can guess, release carcinogenic toxins. These toxins are then in the air that you, your family, and pets breath. The black soot that is left after burning paraffin candles is evidence of this toxic bi-product of burning paraffin. While anything that burns will produce traces of soot, Soy candles produce a minimal amount of this and it is certainly not toxic. The soy wax that I use is in fact food grade. It is processed in a plant that also processes food products. The soy wax itself is being produced from the same batch of soybeans that end up in the grocery store. As if this were not enough. Soy candles burn 40-50% longer than paraffin candles! Things to be aware of when burning Soy candles. Pure soy candles burn differently than paraffin or soy with wax additives. The tops of the candles flare out more and frost as the wax burns off. This flaring and frosting is a sign that your candle is indeed pure soy wax. Candle care is important with soy. To insure that your candle burns properly keep your wick trimmed and the top-flare either molded back in or you can trim this with a good razor blade or hot knife. I find that this extra candle care significantly adds to the ritual of candle burning. Enjoy! |
